British luxury carmaker Jaguar is planning to launch three new entry-level, affordable car models by the second half of 2015, which would be built using aluminum.
The new models will include an XS compact saloon and its wagon variant, in addition to a crossover sport utility vehicle (SUV).
Powered by a range of four- and six-cylinder engines, all the three vehicles will be benefitted from lightweight aluminum, which would increase the cars' performance and fuel economy, Reuters reported.
Manufacturing of the new range of affordable models will be carried out on production lines that were earlier used to build Land Rover vehicles, which are currently being tailored at the company's Solihull plant in central England.
Jaguar's move is also anticipated to follow the success of economy class luxury models built by its sister firm Land Rover, including cheaper versions of Evoque small SUV and Freelander.
The British carmaker would officially reveal further details of the new range at the upcoming 2013 Frankfurt International Motor Show to be held in September.
In May 2013, Jaguar Land Rover revealed plans to invest about GBP2.75bn in the UK in 2014.
