Swiss food giant Nestlé has opened two new factories in China - a Yinlu Foods facility in Anhui Province and a Nescafé coffee factory in Shandong Province, with an investment of CHF319m ($336m) and CHF133m ($140.1m) respectively.
The facilities are part of the company's strategy to further strengthen its presence in the country by investing in its portfolio of local and global brands.
The Yinlu Foods factory was built through Nestlé's partnership with Yinlu, China's leading producer of ready-to-drink peanut milk and ready-to-eat rice congee. The factory has created more than 2,000 new jobs.
Yinlu products also include ready-to-eat red bean congee and oat congee that cater to Chinese consumers' taste and preferences. These products complement Nestlé's existing products in China, which includes culinary, coffee, confectionery, bottled water, milk powder and products for the foodservice industry.
The new Nescafé factory will manufacture coffee products to help to meet consumer demand across the country.
Nestlé chief executive officer Paul Bulcke said that an important building block of the company's business in China is its partnerships with Chinese companies.
"These partnerships combine local knowledge and entrepreneurship with our global research and development capabilities, and product innovation and renovation expertise."
"The expansion of our manufacturing facilities in China is a clear demonstration of our continued confidence in the Chinese market, and our commitment to the country and its consumers," Bulcke added.
