Ford Motor said recently that its hybrid vehicle sales in US will be more than 6,000 in January of 2013, up 5 times year on year.
In January last year, Ford sold 1,209 hybrid vehicles in US, promoted by the good sales of the hybrid vehicles Fusion and C-Max. Ford plans to sell over 6,000 hybrid vehicles in American market in January of 2013.
Erich Merkle, sales analyst of Ford, said that Ford’s hybrid vehicle sales in the fourth quarter last year occupied 55% of the total sales. He predicts that Ford’s hybrid vehicle sales will hit a new record in 2013.
As CEO of Ford since 2006, Alan Mulally carried out a large-scale adjustment of Ford’s products, focused on the fuel-efficient small cars, and supplement well-sold Pickup trucks and SUVs.
In January of 2010, Ford sold 1,847 hybrid vehicles in US, which hit the record over the years. Ford’s hybrid vehicle total sales were 35,496 in 2010, which also hit the record. Ford’s hybrid vehicle sales in US reached 35,034 last year, up 29% compared to 29%.
However, Toyota’s cars were the best sellers in American hybrid vehicle market. The hybrid vehicle Prius total sales achieved 236,659, with a rise of 73% year on year.
