BHC Is Voluntarily Recalling Few of Its Sheep Milk and Cow's Milk Cheese

Bleating Heart Cheese (BHC) is voluntarily recalling few of its sheep milk and cow’s milk cheese as they may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The products associated with the recall include Ewelicious Blue, Fat Bottom Girl and Goldette Tommette bearing identifying codes 14-0618, 14-0702, and 14-0527 respectively.

The recalled products have been produced in late May, late June and early July of 2014 and were sold to distributors servicing the San Francisco Bay area retail food shops, restaurants and stores.

The recall has been initiated after the US Food & Drug Administration found the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in at least one sample of the recalled cheeses.

BHC is initiating this voluntary recall in cooperation with the California Departments of Food & Agriculture and Public Health.

Consumption of the products contaminated with Listeria may cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, pregnant women and others with weakened immune systems.
