Sran Family Orchards Selected RF Biocidics' Radio Frequency Equipment for Its New Facility

US-based Sran Family Orchards has selected RF Biocidics’ radio frequency equipment for its new almond processing facility located in Kerman.

The new environmentally friendly and chemical-free APEX System, uses no additives, is easy to use and operate, and uses radio frequency technology to eliminate harmful contaminants from low-moisture foods.

Said to be suitable for use for conventional as well as organically grown products, the system has been designed for use in the tree nut industry in specific.

Sran Family Orchards owner Navdep Singh Sran said: "We are excited to have this new technology at Sran Family Orchards, where it will be used to process our almonds without the use of chemicals or steam.

"It is our commitment to deliver the highest quality almonds to the market, and we believe that using RF Biocidics' technology is the safest and most efficient way to do this."

The RF Biocidics process provides a safe alternative to conventional steam heat or chemical pasteurization methods and generates heat in food using electrical and magnetic energy waves.

Developed at the University of California, the food safety process is said to leave food's nutrient content, texture, colour or taste unchanged. It can also be used to remove harmful contaminants from nuts, seeds, spices and dried herbs, as well as grains, dried fruit and pet food.

RF Biocidics chief executive officer Craig Powell said: "The installation of the APEX system at Sran Family Orchards is the start of what we know will be an important and lasting partnership."
