US-based supermarket chain H-E-B has issued voluntary and precautionary recall for two of its single serving soup.
H-E-B Single Serving Tortilla Soup and H-E-B Single Serving Poblano Corn Chowder are the two varieties which have been recalled due to undeclared peanut allergens in seasoning supplied by its spice vendor Southern Style Spices.
The spice blend, which is added only to the two varieties of soups, had tested positive for peanut residue.
Southern Style Spices had notified H-E-B about the issue on 5 January 2015.
There have been no reports of allergic reactions or consumer complaints regarding the products yet.
The retailer is asking consumers who have purchased the products and face risks for peanut allergies to return it to stores for full refund.
Individuals with sensitivity or allergy to peanuts might face severe risk from life-threatening allergic reactions on consuming the products, H-E-B has warned.
H-E-B group vice president of public affairs and diversity Winell Herron said: "H-E-B is committed to the highest standards of food safety for our customers.
"We take every precaution necessary to ensure the integrity and quality of the products sold in our stores."
