Volvo Expands Production at Its New Facility in Daqing

Volvo has announced that it is expanding production at its new facility in Daqing, China where it will produce SPA Volvo sedan.

The facility is expected to produce cars based on Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), and the facility previously manufactured XC Classic and XC90 SUV.

The existing Daqing plant has 700 employees and has an annual production capacity of 80,000 vehicles, which is expected to increase after the current expansion.

Volo in China is owned by Chinese auto maker Zhejiang Geely Holding along with Daqing city government which owns 37% Volvo Cars China.

The expansion is aimed at economic growth and development of the City.

Volvo Cars CEO Håkan Samuelsson SA "Daqing will become an integral part of our global industrial footprint.

"We are pleased to announce that we are going to introduce SPA and a new sedan here. We are fully committed to the growth of our business in China, our second home market."
