Chemical company BASF and Zelfo Technology, developer of cellulosic materials for the advancement of sustainable manufacturing, have entered into an agreement.
As per the terms of deal, it will allow for the transfer of intellectual property (IP) rights of the latest Zelfo processing technology to BASF for better and cost-efficient production of micro-fibrillated cellulose (MFC).
MFC, which will be used to produce a range of paper, board and tissue products, will improve the strength of the paper-based packaging.
The details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Both the companies have also agreed to partner for development and ramping up of the planned MFC process.
