Texanol is Eastman's longest standing product produced at is Longview site.To commemorate the 50-year anniversary,Eastman held a celebration event at the Longview site for employees and retirees who have worked in the production of Texanol over the years.
"Over the years,the growth and sustained value creation of the Texanol product line have played a significant part in the success of the Longview site,"said Mark Bogle,vice president and general manager of Eastman's Texas operations."This success has been built on the innovation,dedication and effectiveness of Eastman employees."
In 1962,the latex paint industry was in its infancy.The industry was transitioning from oil-based paints to water-based paints,and paint formulators quickly recognized the superior performance of Texanol.Over the last five decades,Texanol has continued to evolve,becoming the gold standard in paint worldwide.
Due to its non-volatile organic compound(VOC)status,low toxicity and biodegradability,Texanol has been awarded the Green Label Type II certificate in China by the China Environmental United Certification Co.Ltd.(CEC),a wholly owned subsidiary of the State Environmental Protection Administration of China(SEPA).Texanol is readily biodegradable and is unlikely to persist in the environment,and laboratory studies have shown that Texanol has low acute toxicity by all routes of exposure.Texanol meets the criteria for an LVP-VOC(exempt)under California Consumer Products Regulations and also has a low Maximum Incremental Reactivity(MIR)value of 0.89.

Through its success,Texanol served as the flagship product that led to a whole new generation of coalescents.With the golden anniversary of Texanol,Eastman also celebrates its long-standing involvement in the paint industry.
