Seiki Digital, which helped pull Ultra HD TV pricing down out of the stratosphere this spring when it started selling a 50-inch set for about$1,500,will be going even smaller this summer with a 39-inch model it says will sell for$700.
Earlier this month, however,we saw its 50-inch set—model SE50UY04—sell for just$966 at Amazon, though the price at the online retailer has returned to$1,400.
We recently reviewed that 50-inch model, and though we found it capable of displaying incredible picture detail,it was ultimately really just an average-to-below-average LCD TV,and one without many features.(Detailed test results about this set,and about 120 others, can be found in our latest TV Ratings).
When we first met with Seiki several months ago, company executives said the smaller-sized Ultra HD set would be targeted at TV buyers looking for a smaller screen size, those who wanted to use their TV as a computer monitor,as well as gamers expecting the next-generation game consoles from Microsoft and Sony to support"4K"video,as Ultra HD is sometimes known.Like all the Ultra HD sets we've seen, the TV—which features an LED backlight and a 120Hz refresh rate—has a resolution of 3,840 by 2,160.

Seiki says the TV will arrive at the end of this month at both brick-and-mortar stores and online retailers.Sears will be the first to get the set,and it will begin accepting pre-orders on June 27th at the sears.com website. The company says it will also offer a 65-inch Ultra HD TV later this fall.
Most of regular 1080p TVs this size in our TV Ratings sell for$325 to$500,depending on the features.Let us know whether you'd be willing to pay more for an Ultra HD TV,and the main reason you'd be looking for a set this size with higher resolution.
