US-based SanTan Brewing is set to launch its SunSpot Golden Ale in 12oz cans in collaboration with packaging firm Rexam, expanding its canned beer product line-up.
The canned launch of the very first beer ever brewed at SanTan Brewing Company since 2007 is said to be on the back of company's expansion into southern California and planned launch in Texas.
Brewed with hint of hops and American pale barley, SunSpot Gold features a deep, rich golden color and delicate hop character.
SanTan founder and brewmaster Anthony Canecchia said he became fascinated by Mesoamerican civilizations like the Aztecs, Mayans and Olmecs while studying archaeology in college and wanted to create a brew that captured the essence of these ancient cultures.
"Continuing our partnership with Rexam, we are able to expand our distribution for this unique brew by putting it in cans which provide many benefits for beer," added Canechhia.
Rexam claimed that the cans can be recycled and converted to cans again to return them on retail shelves within 60 days.
Rexam BCNA president and CEO Rich Grimley said, "Beverage cans are the perfect packaging choice for beer, enabling the brand to attract attention on store shelves with colorful, reflective graphics while also ensuring desired taste profiles with superior barrier protection."
