UK-based Skymark has developed a speciality co-extruded film for Kimberly-Clark’s Huggies Newborn Baby Wipes packaging.
The new film has increased opacity and eliminates visibility of the contents in the Huggies Newborn four pack of wipes.
Skymark’s tri-layer co-extruded film includes s blue inner layer, which masks the pack contents inside while retaining the white appearance of the outer layer.
The new solution enabled to maintain all-white aesthetic required by the Huggies Newborn brief.
Skymark director Paul Neath said: “Our collaboration with Kimberly-Clark for Huggies Newborn Baby Wipes has resulted in a differentiated packaging solution that we’re really proud of. We’ve achieved exactly what we set out to do in terms of the new film technology.
“The project has also seen us overcome challenging production changes. We’ve worked hard to solve this quickly and efficiently to ensure consistency and increased speed to market for this project and future print runs that utilise this method.”
Since 2008, Skymark has been supplying laminate materials to the wipes market.
The company produces and supplies embossed, plain and printed flexible films. Its manufacturing capabilities include cast & blown film co-extrusion, flexographic printing, solvent and solventless lamination, slitting, conversion and recycling.
