NGC Software announced that Alberto Makali, a contemporary, luxury women's fashion brand, has selected NGC's Global Enterprise Suite as an integrated solution for PLM and ERP. New York-based Alberto Makali designs and produces evening wear, sportswear and dresses that are sold by leading retailers such as Saks, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Dillard's, as well as boutiques and specialty stores around the world.
Alberto Makali has experienced double-digit growth and global expansion in recent years. The fashion brand has grown from one division to six and expanded its product line in all divisions; in addition, the company recently opened offices in Madrid and Dubai.
"Alberto Makali has experienced consistent growth, and our existing software limited us," said Stefano Derasmo, director of operations, Alberto Makali. "Due to these inefficiencies, our people rely heavily on spreadsheets and manual processes, which left us vulnerable to errors." The company sought a new software platform that would help standardize its business processes, support rapid growth, and be flexible and easy to use – and ultimately selected NGC.
"You have to trust the systems that you're using," said Derasmo. "ERP and PLM are the lifeblood of our business and will channel information to all the vital parts of our company. It was a time-consuming process to find a product that we felt confident in, but after due diligence, we found the right partner in NGC."
Alberto Makali expects to see a number of key benefits once NGC's software has been implemented:
Increased efficiency: "Improving efficiency is our number one goal; I can't stress that enough," said Derasmo. "We needed a system to streamline our workflow. Our current system created a multi-step process for basic information. Now we will get this information in real time, accelerating the information flow. In addition, time and energy can be focused in other areas."
For example, Derasmo noted that, "we currently have multiple people running reports for different areas of the company on a weekly, or sometimes, daily basis. The current system can't automatically generate reports. So if there is a request for a specific report at any given time, that individual must stop what they are doing to run that report. Now these reports will automatically be generated and sent at a specific time," he said.
"It's a simple problem, but very time-consuming – and it's only one of many examples of inefficiency. We need our people to be able to focus their energy within the system, and not have to deviate from it."
Improved information flow, lower operating costs: Better access to information is essential for helping Alberto Makali streamline its operations and ultimtely reduce costs. With the limitations of its current system, information isn't available on a timely basis and is often inaccurate due to data corruption. NGC's Global Enterprise Suite will improve information flow and lower costs by providing centralized access to accurate, up-to-date information throughout Alberto Makali's operations – enabling the fashion designer to improve accuracy, reduce labor costs and improve response time.
