Details of the new additions to Infiniti Australia’s showroom in 2014.

Infiniti Q50 (January)

In late January/early February, Nissan’s luxury brand, Infiniti, will launch the first of its new generation ‘Q’ models in Australia, the Q50 mid-size sports sedan. Although exact specifications and pricing for this market are yet to be confirmed, Infiniti’s 3 Series rival is initially expected to be offered with two powertrains: a 125kW/400Nm 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine from Mercedes-Benz, and a petrol-electric hybrid (pairing a 3.5-litre V6 and an electric motor) producing a combined 222kW/546Nm. Both team with a seven-speed automatic transmission and transfer their power to the rear wheels. Another Mercedes-sourced engine, a turbocharged 157kW/320Nm 2.0-litre petrol, is tipped to join the range in the second half of 2014. Technical highlights of the Infiniti Q50 include a low (0.26) drag coefficient, ‘fatigue free’ seats designed with the help of NASA research, and ‘Direct Adaptive Steering’ using steer-by-wire technology. Expect pricing in Lexus IS territory ($55-75K).
