VIZ-Stal, an NLMK Group subsidiary and the largest electrical steel manufacturer in Russia, has completed the construction of a new reversing cold rolling mill with an annual capacity of approximately 75,000 tonnes.
The commissioning of the mill is one of the key stages of the program aimed at mastering production of promising premium electrical steel grades with improved magnetic properties (transformer (grain-oriented) steel with high permeability). The planned production capacity of high-permeability transformer may reach approximately 70,000 tonnes a year.
The main supplier of the reversing mill equipment is Andritz-Sundwig (Germany). The estimated cost of the construction project is approximately RUB 1.4 billion.
The mill equipment is currently being set up, and fine-tuning of process modes for trial lots is under way. The mill will be fully ramped up in the first half of 2013.
