North American Breweries has unveiled plans for a $49.1m expansion project, which will create 128 jobs, spur development in Northeast Rochester, New York, US.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo made the announcement about the investment, which will modernise Genesee Brewery, one of the oldest breweries in the state.
The brewery manufactures the classic line of Genesee beers, and the new Genesee Brew House Pilot series, a popular line of craft beers first brewed at the Genesee Brew House.
Plans also include installation of advanced brewing systems and expansion of the Genesee Brew House restaurant and tasting room and addition of new event space.
The multi-phase project and will help in creating an ‘Eco-Brewery District’ which will be a destination for brewing, tasting and a place to learn about Rochester beer.
Governor Cuomo said: “The expansion of the Genesee Brewery is a symbol of the economic renaissance unfolding throughout the Finger Lakes and an important example of how we are leveraging the region’s resources to generate growth and opportunity.
“We will continue to investing in New York’s burgeoning beverage industry to raise the profile of New York’s unparalleled products, create jobs and unleash potential for future economic growth.”
The Eco-Brewery District project will be an 18,000 ft2 expansion and will include the demolition, construction and purchase of new tanks and brewing equipment.
North American Breweries CEO Kris Sirchio said: “As the oldest brewery in New York State, Genesee has a great opportunity to help Rochester become a premier destination for beer and brewing.”
