The Agile Switch S12700 uses a fully-programmable switching architecture, and automatic network deployment and management applications.
Featuring a 1.5GB buffer on each line card, the S12700 supports 48*10GE and 8*100GE line cards, and can provide a maximum of 576 10GE ports and 96 100GE ports.
Liu Shao Wei, President, IP Solutions, Huawei Enterprise, Global Markets, said, “CIOs are always asking how they can better manage their IT networks to ensure that their networks are optimized.
“The launch of Huawei’s Agile Switch S12700 brings a host of business benefits, allowing decisions not only to be made automatically and quickly, but also frees up network resources so that decision makers are able to focus on their core business.”
Providing native wireless access controller, it uses Huawei’s Ethernet Network Processor, which offers 1M MAC address entries and 3M FIB entries.
Paul Black, Director of Telecoms MEA at IDC said: “Huawei’s overall strategy for its networking business aims to create an open, simplified network architecture for business so that the switching technology responds to the fast-changing requirements of organisations.
“Huawei has brought about a new generation of switching technologies that are smarter, more agile for switches to be easily programmed to accommodate virtually all network needs for all levels of business today and what the future holds. The unveiling of Huawei’s Agile S12700 switch series in the Middle East comes at a time where the industry is witnessing the convergence of data centres, wireless and wide area network technology.”
