Gigabit Optical Networks in China Was Targeted Mindspeed

Mindspeed Technologies has introduced a 1.25Gbit/s transimpedance amplifier(TIA)for gigabit passive optical network(GPON)applications and a 2.5Gbit/s TIA for next-generation XG-PON1 applications.

The burst-mode TIAs offer optical sensitivity of-33dBm for the M02036 GPON amplifier and-29dBm for the M02035 XG-PON1 amplifier.Dynamic range is greater than 25dB.

Both TIAs feature a burst mode average power monitor output that enables receivers to report upstream optical network unit(ONU)optical transmit power.

According to Hasnain Bajwa, senior v-p and general manager,high-performance analogue at Mindspeed, the aim is to offer"new levels of integration and power efficiency"and play a"pivotal role in accelerating the adoption of next generation broadband technology."

Mindspeed will be highlighting its M02036 burst-mode TIA for GPON OLT applications and M02035 burst-mode TIA for XG-PON1 OLT applications at the 14th Annual China International Optoelectronic Expo(CIOE),Sept.6-9,2012 at the Shenzhen Convention&Exhibition Center in Shenzhen,China.

The company will also be showcasing its companion burst-mode laser drivers, along with other members of its family of physical media dependent(PMD)solutions for Gigabit Ethernet PON(GEPON),GPON,XG-PON and 10Gbps Ethernet PON(10G-EPON)applications.
