Ssangyong Motor, a part of Mahindra Group, has reported sales of 12,730 vehicles in May 2013, a 25.3% increase, compared to the same month previous year.
The company registered a 21.4% increase in the cumulative sales from January 2013, compared to the same period last year.
In the domestic market, the company sold 5,270 vehicles, a 28.4% year-on-year growth, a fifth month of consecutive rise driven by the sales of refreshed models including the Korando series I spite of the slowdown in the Korean market.
The company experienced a 23.1% rise in exports to 7,460 units, compared to the same month last year.
The automobile manufacturer expects to continue to increase its sales as it resumed night-shift production system at its third assembly line in May 2013.
Ssangyong Motor CEO Lee Yoo-il said the company achieved monthly sales of more than 12,000 units in May following April by registering stable sales growth in both the domestic market and exports.
"We will further expand our sales by providing various refreshed models to meet customer needs," Yoo-il said.
