Atlas Copco inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in China. The new factory will produce high-efficiency compressors and generators, meeting the growing demand for such industrial equipment throughout Asia.
The new plant, located in Wuxi in the Jiangsu province in eastern China, will manufacture small and medium-sized industrial air compressors, and portable diesel and electric-driven compressors and generators.
“This top-modern production facility will be key to our effort to expand our presence in China and across Asia,” said Stephan Kuhn, Business Area President of Atlas Copco Compressor Technique. “The Asian market has vast growth potential, and this plant helps us ensure we are close to our many customers in the region.”
The investment for the plant, which includes a test lab and an R&D center, amounts to approximately MSEK 165 (MRMB 160.) The facility is expected to employ about 280 people. The plant is built according to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standard for sustainable site development.
Including the Wuxi plant, Atlas Copco now operates 16 manufacturing facilities and 236 offices in China and has approximately 5 700 employees in the country.
