US-based Zilks Foods is voluntarily recalling its 8oz hummus products, as they are expected to contain undeclared peanuts.
The products associated with the recall include 8oz packs of Bacon Hummus, Balsamic & Garlic Hummus, Hatch Green Chile Hummus, Jalapeno & Cilantro Hummus, Original Hummus, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus and Spinach & Artichoke Hummus.
According to FDA, the recalled Hummus has been distributed across the nation in retail stores. Consuming these products may cause serious or life-threatening allergic reaction for the people who have allergies to peanuts, however, no illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the problem.
The recall has been initiated after discovery of a spice ingredient from a single supplier used in the affected products that was contaminated with peanut allergens.
Customers who have purchased the recalled products are advised to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
