American food and spice company Zatarain has opened its new manufacturing and warehouse facility in Gretna, in the US state of Louisiana.
Spread over an area of around 80,000ft2, the $26m facility comprises 10 production lines and ingredient silos as well as additional storage areas.
Expected to become operational by the end of next year, the facility will speed up the company's production operations with new equipment. It will provide room for future growth, in addition to doubling the company's physical footprint.
Commenting on the expansion, Zatarain general manager Jill Pratt was quoted by wwltv as saying: "It's the first expansion we've had since the 1960s, I believe.
"We've really done a large-scale expansion."
Zatarain currently produces over six million cases of products such as jambalaya, crab boil, creole mustard and root beer extract annually.
With $250m in annual sales, the company uses 43 different types of packaging, Times-Picayune reported.
