Kkot Saem Sprouts Has Recalled Soybean Sprouts and Mungbean Sprouts

Spanaway based Kkot Saem Sprouts has recalled Soybean Sprouts and Mungbean Sprouts due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.

The recalled products were distributed under brand names such as Kkot Saem, Winter Blossom Bean Sprouts, and Winter Blossom.

The sprouts were supplied at H-Mart in Washington and Oregon, and G-Mart in Oregon with the last date of distribution being 16 December.

The mungbean sprouts has a five-day shelf life from the date of packing, while soybean sprouts has a shelf life of up to two weeks from the packing date.

The FDA said that the recall was the result of the sample collected and analysed by the agency.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that may cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, while healthy people can suffer short-term symptoms, FDA said.

No illnesses or deaths have been reported yet.

FDA has asked consumers who have purchased these products to return them to the place of purchase or discard them.
