Ford Issues Five Safety Recalls

Ford has issued five safety recall and one recall compliance in North America to fix defects in some of its vehicles.

The company is recalling around 37,000 units of 2015 Ford F-150 vehicles due to issues with adaptive cruise control.

Due to the issue, the affected vehicle might wrongly identify highly reflective truck on its lane as a result the red warning light might flash and the vehicle might apply the brakes until the truck perceives it route to be safe.

The situation could increase the risk of a crash.

Ford said that it has received information of one accident related to this issue but no injuries were reported.

Around 1,500 units of 2016 Ford F-53 and F-59 stripped chassis vehicles are also being recalled due to issue with the shift control bracket.

According to Ford, a manufacturing defect with the shift control bracket has been identified and the vehicles equipped with the defective shift control bracket might be able to be shifted into reverse without applying the brakes which could increase the risk of crash.

The automaker is also recalling 700 units of 2016 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles for a potential compliance issue with the fuel tank.

Cars fitted with the poorly manufactured fuel tank could crack in a crash, which could increase the risk of fire.

Ford is also recalling approximately 250 units of 2015 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS vehicles, as well as 2016 Ford Explorer vehicles due to issues with the fuel tank attachment bolts that are not fitted properly.

It is also recalling 70 units of 2001-2008 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner vehicles with a remanufactured transmission due to a possible loose shift control lever bolt.

The recall also includes 340,000 1998-2003 Ford Windstar vehicles for a potential issue with a previous safety recall repair.

Ford previously installed a rear axle reinforcement bracket to reduce the safety risk involved with corrosion and stress that could cause cracks in the axle.

Ford said that in some cases, the brackets were incorrectly installed and with the latest recall it plans to fix the issue.

Earlier this month Ford Australia issued a recall notice for its small Focus, over concerns that a mechanical defect could rob the front wheels of power.

The fault, affecting 4277 vehicles built between May 21 2013 and January 24 2014.
