Blumberg Grain has entered into a partnership with the Government of Egypt to develop an integrated food security system for grain storage.
The phase I of the project, which is said to be the world's largest integrated food security systems, covers 93 sites across Egypt.
It enables primary processing of 3.7 million metric tonnes of wheat annually across a platform of 3.6 million ft2 of storage space.
Work under the project includes the transformation of current barn storage infrastructure into a network of warehouses with Blumberg Grain screening, drying and grading technologies.
The warehouses will also feature Blumberg Grain's access and inventory management systems that will develop the platform for a commodities exchange in Egypt.
The food security system is expected to help the Ministry of Supply in recovering crops lost to post harvest losses, a move that will save Egypt around $200m annually.
Blumberg Grain chairman and CEO Philip Blumberg said: "We admire President Sisi's courage to enact difficult measures to stabilize the nation's fiscal policy and invest in infrastructure such as food security, which will contribute to GDP, stabilize food prices, and reduce the need for foreign purchases of wheat."
The company also plans to build a Manufacturing Plant and Export Hub to produce food security technology and systems including equipment and storage buildings for the Middle East and North Africa region. The groundbreaking is scheduled for early next year.
