Ford Factory Closed in 2014 in Belgium

The employees of the Ford factory in Belgium and its suppliers have agreed to end the strike, Ford planed to close Genk factory in 2014, when its employees will receive severance pay of about six months wages.

Ford announced in October last year that they would close Genk factory in Belgium and two factories in UK, the factory's production and business stopped due to the strike, Ford had reached an agreement with the factory's trade union and hourly workers, and was negotiating with salaried employees, the company planning to restart the Genk factory production line on the 18th of this month.

The Genk plant currently has 4,300 employees and the production models including the Galaxy and Mondeo mid-size car. Ford planed to shut down the Genk plant at the end of 2014, the production tasks would be transferred to the Ford Valencia Spain factory, the Genk factory employees would lose their jobs. The original production of C-MAX and Grand C-Max minivan in the Ford plant in Valencia, would be forwarded to the German Saarlouis plant.

Ford lost 1.5 billion dollars in Europe last year, the losses in this region is expected to further expand to 2 billion dollars.
