American automobile manufacturer Ford Motor has its plan for 2014, which includes the launch of 23 new vehicles globally, opening of three new manufacturing plants and increasing workforce by adding more than 5,000 people in the US to meet demand for its products.
Of the 23 vehicles, 16 new vehicle will be launched in North America, including Ford Mustang, Ford Transit Connect, Ford Transit and Lincoln MKC. The company expects to launch three times more vehicles than its launches in 2013.
The company will start the Transit model production in second-quarter 2014 at its newly retooled Kansas City Assembly Plant. It is investing $1.1bn to retool and expand the facility.
More than 2,000 jobs will be created at the Kansas City Assembly Plant to support demand for Ford F-150 plus production of the all-new Transit family of commercial vehicles starting next summer.
Besides this, Ford will also open three new manufacturing plants in 2014 including two in Asia Pacific and one in South America.
New plants to be open next year include Changan Ford Assembly Plant No. 3 and Changan Transmission Plant in Chongqing, China, and Cama ari Engine Plant in Brazil.
The new Chongqing Assembly Plant will increase the company's production capacity in China by 300,000 units next year.
Ford Asia Pacific group vice president and president Dave Schoch said: "With more products, plants and people, in 2014 we will take another significant step in the implementation of our Asia Pacific growth plan."
