Radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies provider eAgile has been granted a patent for its eSeal RFID-enabled packaging solution by the US patent office.
The company claims that the solution will solve many concerns surrounding the consumption of close to one trillion containers consumed by various industries worldwide.
Stating that their company has created a breakthrough solution to secure the supply chain, eAgile CEO Gary Burns said: "The demand for intelligent packaging continues to rise, especially in the pharmaceutical and over-the-counter (OTC) drug markets.
"Consumers and governments are demanding proof of safe and authentic products. Our RFID-enabled caps and shrink seals allow manufacturers to achieve compliance while protecting the integrity of their brand."
The new product is claimed to ensure the security of products by verifying the contents of sealed containers. Every item tagged by the product will have a unique ID, which can be tracked individually throughout the distribution process.
The closures and shrink seals can replace the current packaging with minimal disruption.
The US-based company provides cost effective auto-identification products, hardware and software solutions.
