French tire maker Michelin is set to supply tires for Ford’s performance vehicles including Ford GT, Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R Mustang, Fiesta ST, Focus ST and RS, and F-150 Raptor.
Ford said that engineers from both the companies will work together to develop customized tires designed to meet performance targets which includes lateral grip; noise, vibration and harshness; and durability.
According to Ford, every tire is designed and developed in close collaboration to improve the vehicle's performance.
Ford will provide standard and optional tire fitments for Ford Performance production vehicles.
Michelin is likely to provide Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire for the Ford GT and Shelby GT350R, the Michelin Pilot tire for Focus ST and Focus RS and the Shelby GT350 is likely to get Michelin Pilot Super Sport tire, and the upcoming 2017 F-150 Raptor is likely to feature BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tire.
Ford Performance director Dave Pericak said: "We have a long relationship with Michelin, and could not ask for a better teammate to help extract maximum capability from our vehicles.
"That confidence extends from our upcoming racing effort at Le Mans in 2016 with the all-new Ford GT, to the Ford Performance vehicle lineup, including Shelby GT350 and F-150 Raptor."
