AGC Glass Co. North America, a glass and glass-related products manufacturer, has announced the reopening of its Greenland manufacturing plant G1 float glass line. The Church Hill, Tenn.- based plant will serve as a G1 line for both the architectural and automotive markets, producing both clear and tinted float glass. AGC has installed new equipment for environmental controls in an effort to improve the air emissions from this manufacturing line to meet standards and enhance air quality in the region.
"The restarted production line marks another important step in our efforts to strengthen the company's operations in North America," says Mark Ishiko, president and CEO of AGC. "AGC is committed and fully intends to succeed here."
The G1 line will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. An additional 100 jobs have been created as a result of restarting this line. The Greenland manufacturing plant will be AGC's fourth float tank. The company's other three locations include Greenland, Tenn. (2 float lines), Richmond, Ky. (1 float line) and Spring Hill, Kan. (1 float line).
