Nadeau Poultry Farm in Fined for Causing Injury to Animals While Transportation

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has announced that Nadeau Poultry Farm, which is located in Madawaska County, New Brunswick, has been fined for causing injury to animals while transportation.

CFIA investigations revealed that between 2007 and 2010, Nadeau Poultry Farm had transported chickens in a motor vehicle which caused injury or undue suffering to the animals as a result of undue exposure to the weather and/or inadequate ventilation.

The company has been imposed fines of C$3500 ($3,540.00) per count totalling C$35000 ($35,403.2).

In addition, the company has also been fined for violations of the Health of Animals Regulations since 2002. These previous violations were dealt with under the Agriculture and Agri-Food Administrative Monetary Penalties Act, and totalled several thousand dollars in penalties over the last 10 years.
