Intel is actively to consider the next CEO, choose from the external candidates, the potential candidates including Motorola Mobile CEO Sanjay Jha and VMware CEO Patrick Gelsinger, who had worked at Intel before.
Intel has said that the board of directors hoped to find a successor in May 16th before the annual general meeting of shareholders. The new CEO will replace the current CEO Paul Otellini, who is scheduled to be retired in May.
Industry insiders said that external CEO can help Intel in a different way. Intel is in a dominant position in the PC chip market, but almost has nothing in the mobile chip market. If Intel want to stop the declining sales, the mobile market is critical.
So no matter who became Intel's new CEO eventually, will guide Intel to open a new chapter, on mobile phone and tablet growing opportunity.
