India based Ashok Leyland, owned by Hinduja group, has won a $6.5m order from Bangladesh Road Transport (BRTC) to provide 88 AC buses to improve the urban transportation in the country.
The order, which comes under the Indian line of credit (LoC) scheme, follows Ashok Leyland's recent order to supply 50 Vestibule buses to BRTC.
Ashok Leyland managing director Vinod Dasari said that the order represents the company's commitment to partner BRTC in the process of taking urban transportation in Bangladesh to a new level and underscores our preeminent status as the leading CV player in that country.
The company said that the recent order will add to the more than 11,000 vehicles of different models that have been exported to Bangladesh.
Last year the company's international operations have sold 12,852 vehicles reporting a growth of 25%.
