Charleston, South Carolina-based King of Pops, is recalling banana puddin’ pops and keylime pie pops after the US FDA found that the labels did not reveal clear picture of its ingredients.
According to FDA, the product may contain allergens such as milk, wheat, egg, and soy, which are not declared on the label. However, the label contains information about milk, flour, chocolate, egg, vanilla wafer, and graham cracker.
People who are allergic to milk, wheat, egg or soy may face adverse allergic reactions upon consuming these products. The FDA has therefore asked the retail stores in Charleston, South Carolina to remove all the mislabled products containing UPC codes as 59959 00305 and 59959 00304.
The company is working with the FDA, SC Department of Agricultural, and SC Department of Health to correct the labeling issue to FDA standards.
King of Pops has also urged consumers allergic to milk, wheat, egg and soy to discard these products immediately.
