Bus Production in Polish Facility Is Produced by Scania

Swedish truck and bus manufacturer Scania has reduced its production of fully-built buses in the Omni range in Poland due to slump in demand for these vehicles.

Due to the decline in demand, the company is also cutting 142 employees in its Poland facility.

Scania Buses & Coaches senior vice president Klas Dahlberg said the economic situation in the company's most important markets is showing no sign of improvement, which means that they expect continued weak demand for public transport buses in the coming year.

"Therefore, we have to adjust production to significantly lower volume," Dahlberg said.

Scania's Slupsk facility in Poland has a work force of 700 employees and performs bodyworks of the OmniCity and OmniLink models.

The facility also assembles chassis for its OmniCity and also supplies them to other bus bodybuilders in Europe, Africa and Asia.
