Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. (SHSE: 600166) has inked a heavy-duty truck contract with leading engine maker Cummins to jointly expand in the Brazilian commercial car market.
Brazil is one of the major targeted markets of Beiqi Foton. The company is preparing for building two knockdown plants in the nation, besides exporting complete cars there. Knockdown plants for light-duty and pickup trucks will be put into production by the end of 2014. More than 30,000 engines made by Beijing Foton Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. (BFCEC) have been sold locally.
