FLSmidth Pvt Ltd of India has won a $38.9m (OMR 15m) contract from Oman Cement for the supply and installation of a new cement mill, according to the Omani company.
An agreement to this effect was signed at the offices of the Rusayl-based cement manufacturer on Sunday.
A statement on FLSmidth’s website said: “It has been reported in the Oman media that FLSmidth has signed a contract with Oman Cement Company (SAOG) for supply of equipment and machinery for a cement plant in Oman.
“FLSmidth confirms that this information is correct. If and when down payment is received and the contract becomes binding, we shall immediately inform the market."
“FLSmidth is continuously negotiating many potential contracts on the global market. To be considered binding, such contracts require not only signing but also exchange of down payment and guarantees, etc.,” it added.
