Power for the electric motor comes from a 37kWh battery that offers a range of about 190miles, according to the test conducted to the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) standard, and can be recharged to full in 4.3hrs with Detroit Electric's home charging unit.

Features of the vehicle include all-disc braking system, anti-lock braking, electronic stability control and regenerative braking technology.

The SP:01 has Detroit Electric's patented home charging and power back-up unit called 360 Powerback.

Following the launch of the car by end of August 2013, the company aims to add two more high-performance models to its portfolio of all-electric production cars by the end of 2014.
