French freight forwarding firm Norbert Dentressangle is investing multi-million pounds in 153 new trailers for use on its contract with brewing major Carlsberg.
Norbert holds all of Carlsberg's UK primary distribution, including managing the flow of cans, bottles and kegs, and finished product, into and out of the Carlsberg brewery in Northampton.
It also holds management of the container yard, involving the receipt, sorting and inspection of empty kegs and management of Carlsberg's national distribution center in Northampton.
Norbert will also look after the primary transportation of both small pack products into retailers' RDCs, kegged product into Carlsberg's secondary distribution network and the movement of tanked beer for major events, such as music festivals.
Cartwright Group is supplying the new, curtainside trailers to Norbert, which are fitted with front and rear air management equipment, which is expected to deliver operational efficiencies. The new trailers will be in full Carlsberg livery.
The new trailers will also help to maximize payload, due to their lightweight construction. Safeside curtains of the trailers will be used for unrestrained loads, along with a new load restraint system.
