BMW Has Recalled 30,265 Units of The X5 Utility Vehicles in The Us

German automaker BMW has recalled 30,265 units of the X5 utility vehicles in the US over a brake problem.

The recall affects the vehicles that are equipped with the V8 engines and have been manufactured between 2007 and 2010.

Brake vacuum pump of the vehicles is liable to leak small amount of lubricating oil into the vacuum hose, which could contaminate the brake booster resulting in loss of power assist braking that increases stopping distance and leads to vehicle crash.

The company has reported the issue with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the US and claims that it has not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to the issue.

As a part of the recall that is expected to start by February 2013, the company will replace the defective parts of the cars.

In December 2012, the automaker had recalled 250,000 units of the X5 SUVs worldwide to fix a belt idler pulley bolt inside the engine which results in loss of power assisted steering.
