Audi Is Planning to Construct an Ultramodern Geothermal Plant at PéR

Audi is planning to construct an ultramodern geothermal plant at Pér, close to its present Hungarian factory in Gyor to tap geo thermal energy for the facility.

The plant is expected supply the facility with at least 82,000 megawatt hours of geothermal energy per annum which is likely to cover about 6% of total heat requirements.

Audi is already using technologies for to make production more efficient and to lower CO2 emissions in production.

Audi's Hungarian division has also signed a contract with DDEnergy for the supply of heat energy which will facilitate Audi to get 82,000 megawatt hours of geothermal energy each year, and it will also help reduction of CO2 emissions by a further 19,800 tons.

The depth of the well to be constructed is expected to be 2,400 meters and once completed will be able to generate hot water temperature of 100 degrees Celsius which will be pumped to the company's heating system.

AUDI Board of Management Member for Production Dr. Hubert Waltl said: "Energy-efficient products and conservation of resources in production processes have top priority within Audi's environmental protection.

"By focusing our attention of the use of raw materials and energy, we are moving step by step along a path to developing a CO2 neutral production plant. The mobility of the future must be CO2 neutral - and that applies not only to the use of our vehicles, but also to their production."
