US-based package integrity instrumentation manufacturer Mocon is set to launch a new AQUATRAN Model 2 WVTR system to measure the water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) of ultra-high barrier films.
The new AQUATRAN instrument targets commercial or developmental barrier structures engineered to push the performance envelope, including flexible films for organic light-emitting display (OLED), solar and similar demanding applications.
The system uses proprietary technology to measure WVTR down to 5x10-5 g/(m2-day) and also to increase sensor sensitivity and minimize the possibility of ambient humidity interfering with test results.
Additional improvements to the system include improved electronics, enhanced block and valve design, and the introduction of TruSeal technology which cuts down seal-edge leaks due to ambient humidity.
The instrument, which uses the company's new AquaTrace Gold coulometric longer-life sensor, is available in the 'G' and 'W' versions.
