Liquid food packaging will create at least 30 jobs in Somerset
A spokeswoman for the firm told FoodManufacture.co.uk: “We are planning to build a factory that will take up to four new filling lines. The new development will create at least 30 new jobs initially and more in the future.”
She was unable to confirm the date when the jobs would become available.
Land purchased by Framptons in 2008 is currently being prepared for the construction work. Existing buildings are being demolished before work can begin on the new factory build.
Contract packaging
The spokeswoman said: “Our current facilities are at full capacity so we’re looking to expand into new areas and work new partners in the contract packaging area. Establishing new lines would enable us to take on more clients.”
She said the firm was likely to use the lines to produce packaging for beverages such as smoothies and ice cream mixes.
Framptons specialises in packaging a range of liquid food and beverages including fruit juice, milk and dairy alternatives, ice cream mixes and chilled drinks. It also produces a range of egg products for the manufacturing, bakery and foodservices industry and ready-cooked omelettes for the catering, leisure, hospitality and foodservice sectors.
From its site in Shepton Mallet it produces more than 2Ml of product each week.
