Newcastle's Sharp Electronics Group has celebrated its 40th anniversary with an eight-page advertising feature in the Newcastle Herald.
Sharp Electronics, the number two Sharp photocopier dealer in Australia, was founded by current managing director John Duncan, who started his career selling electronic calculators in the Hunter region.
"In those days, a calculator with a printer would sell for around $4000," he told the Newcastle Herald. "Even the cheapest version – and there was no such thing as a little pocket version – sold for $400 to $500," he said.
Specialising in service and repair, Sharp Electronics Group is also the authorised warranty agents for most brands of copiers and printers.
An ASA Australia member, the group also offers a range of services including print solutions, point-of-sale, office products, office furniture and promotional products.
The Newcastle Herald anniversary feature was supported by several suppliers, among them Pelikan Artline, Peter McInnes, Sharp Corporation and ED Office Products.
