A spokesperson for ArcelorMittal has confirmed the company's US plate mills in Coatesville, Burns Harbor and Conshohocken are providing 160,000 tons of steel plate to two steel fabricators who are involved in construction of the 3.1 mile, twin-span cable-stayed bridge.?? Those close to the project say it is the largest of its kind in the history of New York City, and that construction is expected to complete in 2018.
The bridge, according to sources, is being designed in such a way that it will not need major structural maintenance for a century.
