American automobile manufacturer Ford Motor has issued a voluntary recall on 27,933 Edge vehicles of certain model year 2012-2013 in the US due to fuel system and gasoline problem.
According to the company, the fuel line pulse damper metal housing of these vehicles may crack as a result of an improper manufacturing process.
A cracked fuel line pulse damper housing may result in a combination of fuel odor, weepage, or a continuous leak while the fuel system is pressurized. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire, the comapny said.
The vehicles affected by the recall were manufactured from 2 September 2010, through 25 April 2013. They are equipped with 2.0L engines.
Dealers of the American automaker will replace the fuel line with one that does not have a damper, free of charge.
The safety recall is scheduled to begin on 28 February 2014, and the company will notify the problem to owners of the affected vehicles.
