Swedish automobile manufacturer Volvo Trucks has expanded its portfolio with the introduction of a low-entry variant of Volvo FE for Euro 6, the Volvo FE LEC (Low Entry Cab).
The revamped truck features a low entry cab with flat floor to offer better visibility along with space for about four people.
Volvo FE LEC has a 530mm high cab with kneeling function, which lowers it to a further 90mm. It features three passenger seats and a more forward-placed driver's seat.
Volvo Trucks distribution segment manager Pernilla Sustovic said there is a constant increase in the demand for efficient refuse transport and smart solutions for city distribution.
"With the new Volvo FE LEC we meet our customers' needs even better than before," Sustovic added.
According to the company, all the other features of the vehicle such as chassis, driveline, design, instruments and controls are same as its predecessor.
The vehicle is powered by Volvo D8K Euro 6 powertrain combined with the Volvo I-Shift or Allison fully automatic transmission to offer output ranges of 250hp, 280hp and 320 hp.
Volvo Trucks has received Whole Vehicle Type Approval for the launch of truck throughout Europe and will unveil the vehicle at upcoming IFAT in Munich, Germany.
