Aramark to Relocate Global Headquarters to New Site in Philadelphia

Global food company Aramark has announced that it will relocate its Philadelphia-based world headquarters to a new site situated along the Schuylkill River in fall of 2018.

The new site at 2400 Market Street was originally built in the 1920s as a Hudson Motor Car Company plant. It will now be transformed into a nine-storied 600,000ft2 building.

Aramark will be the building’s anchor tenant occupying the top five floors. The new facility will be housing around 1,200 management and support associates.

Aramark chairman, president and CEO Eric J. Foss said that the new riverfront headquarters will give its associates a dynamic work environment with exciting amenities.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf said that it was extremely important that Aramark being one of the largest international corporations headquartered in Philadelphia to call Philadelphia its home.

Wolf added: "The commonwealth served as a strategic partner throughout the process, working to ensure that Aramark remained here.

“We made the decision to further support Aramark by making a commitment to support the public infrastructure and redevelopment at the company's site to ensure the high number of jobs and private sector investment remain in Pennsylvania."

The company also announced a $100,000 contribution to the Schuylkill River Development Corporation for supporting the ongoing transformation along the Schuylkill River Trail and River Banks.

Pennsylvania Mayor Jim Kenney said: “The location at 2400 Market Street will provide Aramark with a larger space that is still easily accessible to employees coming from all corners of the city and beyond.

“Aramark has already demonstrated its commitment to the company's new neighborhood with its donation to the Schuylkill River Development Corporation, which will help support development efforts along the Schuylkill."

Last month, Aramark announced that it had bagged 32 new K-12 contracts in the US. It also revealed the addition of 250 new recipes in its breakfast and lunch menus for schools in the 2016/17 calendar year.
