Giant Manufacturing Is Actively Integrating Its Global Supply Chain

Giant Manufacturing Co., Ltd., the largest bicycle manufacturer in Taiwan, is actively integrating its global supply chain to further explore the market in Europe, while strengthening deployments in China.

Giant is expanding production capacities at three factories in China`s Kunshan (Jiangsu Province), Tianjin and Chengdu (Sichuang Province). The annual capacity of its Kunshan factory is expected to rise to some 1.5 million bicycles in 2013, from one million currently, that of Tianjin plant to 1.5 million from one million, and that of Chengdu facility to 500,000 units from 300,000.

With all the expansions complete, institutional investors said, Giant`s total production volume in China is expected to reach five million units in 2013, with domestic sales in there estimated to grow 20%, which will help offset declining exports to Europe.

Thanks to continued growing demand for higher-end bikes in China, Giant`s Chinese-market revenue now already accounts for about 30% of the group`s global income. In 2012, Giant expects to sell about 4.5 million bicycles in China, up more than 20% from previous year.

Giant`s revenue rose 15% year-on-year (YoY) in November, and some institutional investors predict the group`s consolidated 2012 revenue to outstrip NT$50 billion (US$1.7 billion).
