3M Achieved NF Validation Certification for Its Molecular Detection Assay

US-based c Food Safety has achieved NF Validation certification cfor E.coli O157 including H7.

The Molecular Detection Assay for E.coli O157 is capable of detecting the bacteria in raw beef, fruit, vegetable and dairy products.

The validation for E.coli O157, which will be effective for a four years, follows a evaluation process completed in recently for 3M's Molecular Detection Assay for the Salmonella organism.

3M's assay was evaluated in accordance with the ISO 16140 standard by an independent laboratory and then further analyzed by 15 European laboratories to confirm reproducibility and repeatability.

It also underwent independent laboratory testing prior to obtaining AOAC-PTM approval from the AOAC Research Institute in July 2012.

The 3M Molecular Detection System, which is currently in use in more than 35 countries, was introduced to food processors, third-party laboratories in December 2011 and it offers a method to detect pathogens accurately in food and food process samples.

The technology tackles isothermal DNA amplification and bioluminescence detection technologies to target and amplify nucleic acid in enriched food and food process samples.
